These are the voyages of a couple of nerds who live in and around Sheffield.
Back in 2003 a couple of best friends, a tall guy called Paul and an even taller guy called Andrew, had far too much free time on their hands and Paul had recently acquired a top of the range digital camera!
This camera was the hugely impressive 1.3 megapixel Kodak DC240, which not only saved its questionable quality pictures on large compact flash cards, but also ate through its four AA batteries at an alarming rate!

But what could be done with such an amazing piece of technology? Obviously it had to involve taking pictures and where better to take them Andrew suggested, than the lovely town of Dronfield, which they both frequented while visiting Andrew’s dad.
Paul was a Trekkie and not only loved all things Star Trek (apart from the Original Series), but also had a large and continuously growing collection of Star Trek memorabilia. Amongst the few action figures he had that were played with, and therefore already out of their boxes, was a 1992, 4½” version of Playmates Lieutenant Worf: Chief Security Officer of the Starship Enterprise.

Andrew secretly ‘borrowed’ Paul’s Worf and on the first trip around Dronfield to look for things to take pictures of, he photobombed a nice wooded landscape with Worf.
Where is Worf? was born.
Many photos were taken and a website, which no one ever viewed, was created and launched to showcase the results. However, the excitement did not last long, as the distraction of computer games soon took over. Sadly, photos had long since been lost, but the memories lived on of many happy, stress free hours walking around Dronfield taking pictures of a small action figure in random places.
Fast forward to Christmas 2018 and Paul, a huge fan of all things map related, received a present from his wife: ST&G’s Marvellous Map of Great British Place Names. He immediately wanted to visit all the places shown within its pages but needed a purpose along with proof that he’d actually been to each one!
By this point, Andrew was travelling all over the world with work, which also provided many new comedic photo opportunities.
In January 2019, ‘Where is Worf?’ was reborn with a much more modern looking website, alongside social media accounts, to showcase all the fascinating locations, now in 4k photo detail, that Paul and Andrew visited.
The journey continues…
